KATE
Kinetic Automat for Transport Enhancement
The future of in-house goods transportation belongs to driverless transport vehicles.
KATE vehicles seamlessly and flexibly transport loads such as small load carriers (SLC) or cartons. They are directly connected to a powerful master control system, enabling individual or combined use.
KATE ensures a continuous and reliable flow of goods within a system tailored to customer requirements. Different configurations according to customer requirements can be easily implemented, ensuring each customer vehicle is optimally configured for the respective application. This applies to obstacle detection, housing design, and the load pickup.

The model variants
Modular, flexible and customizable

BASIC
Operation without
control system software
The BASIC-KATE version is a simple and cost-effective entry-level solution. The vehicles only orientate themselves using the optical guidance lane and the RFID transponders laid.
Driving orders can be communicated to the vehicle via buttons on the vehicle or via a Bluetooth connection using the GÖTTING app. The BASIC-KATE is designed to give the user the opportunity to start with a small AGV project and gradually expand this system if required.

STANDARD
Standard model
for automation projects
KATE ensures a continuous and reliable flow of goods within a system tailored to customer requirements.
- Optical guidance along tracks made of glued or painted tracks
- Recognition of transponder marks on the floor that trigger actions (e.g. stop, start, turn)
- Guidance control via movizon CONTROL
- Energy supply via batteries or supercaps
- Conductive or inductive energy charging
- Certified personal protection

MAX
Maximum customization
according to customer requests
Different configurations according to customer requirements can be easily implemented, ensuring each customer vehicle is optimally configured for the respective application. This applies to obstacle detection, housing design (size), and the load pickup.
It can also be connected to existing master control units via the VDA 5050 interface.
Control system and fleet management
movizon CONTROL
the core of digital intralogistics
For automation projects, movizon CONTROL, the flexible master control software from our partner movizon GmbH
is available to you. Among other things, the software supports the operation of systems with KATE vehicles and coordinates and visualizes KATE vehicles, machines, material, robots and, if required, other driverless vehicles in the transport system.
- Automate complex processes with a cost-effective KATE.
- Fully integrate vehicles into the plant and IT world.
- Increase the efficiency, transparency and scalability of the transport system.
movizon CONTROL allows users to access the master control system via a browser and control processes. Communication between the master control system and the vehicles takes place via WLAN based on UDP.
- Installation of the master control system on a factory-provided (virtual) server or as a SaaS solution in the cloud.
- Access from any PC or mobile device in the company network (user/authorizations).
- The user interface works in modern browsers without plug-ins – no additional software installation is necessary.
- Telegram interface for data exchange with higher-level warehouse management and manufacturing execution systems as well as for communication with door control systems and fire alarm systems.
The confectionery manufacturer Loacker uses a fleet of over 80 vehicles in its production. Find out more on the website of the movizon GmbH

Application Examples
- KATE vehicles can be used as a replacement for continuous conveyors.
- Different superstructures are possible and additional sensors can be integrated (e.g. ultrasound).
- In combination with the control software movizon Control and an optional PLC integrated into the vehicle customer specific superstructures can be controlled at specific positions, e.g.
- Lifting action
- Transport action (drag, push, etc.)
- Light or accustic signals
- Stopping the vehicle remotely
- Freely programmable PLC actuation

VDA 5050 Ready
A universally applicable interface for communication between control stations and automated guided vehicles has been developed.
The interface was developed in cooperation between the German Association of the Automotive Industry and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) with the support of the Institute of Material Handling and Logistics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT IFL).
Through a uniformly applied standard, VDA 5050 enables companies to automate processes more easily and sustainably.
ROS-Ready
A special version of the KATE vehicle allows the vehicle to be controlled via a ROS interface. The ROS-Ready version of the KATE vehicle offers the possibility to control and read out the drive unit, the turntable of the vehicle via ROS messages. Furthermore, the data of the battery unit can be read out, the turn signals of the vehicle can be controlled and the input/output ports of the interface board can be read out or switched.
The packages for the ROS-Ready KATE vehicle are available for the versions ROS Kinetic and ROS Melodic.

Drive/steering unit
Heart of the KATE vehicle is the HG G-08230YA FLM01 drive/steering module, which combines the optical tracking, the transponder antenna, the obstacle detection, the vehicle computer and the drives in a compact turntable. Vehicle manufacturers can also receive this module separately.
